The optical quality of our first surface mirrors is first-rate: perfect reflection, without annoying ghost images. This makes them ideally suited for technical and scientific applications.
For example, we supply mirrors to instrument makers and manufacturers of medical and optical instruments. Other application areas include the manufacturing industry, visual inspection systems, photographic and printing equipment, imaging systems and video mapping.
Need other sizes?
A thin layer of reflective aluminium is applied to the surface of the glass. This allows perfect reflection, without annoying ghost images. This is especially important when high accuracy is required, such as in measuring equipment and other technical and scientific applications.
In the image below, compare the reflection in an ordinary mirror (bottom) with that of a first surface mirror (top). Because in an ordinary mirror the reflective part is on the back of a transparent substrate (glass or acrylic), ‘ghosting’ occurs: you see a faint reflection in the transparent layer
